ESAO

The European Society for Artificial Organs (ESAO) was founded 1974 in Geneva, Switzerland. The ESAO is a worldwide society and serves over 400 members. It encourages and publishes progress made in the field of artificial organs and allied spheres.

If you are not yet an ESAO Member, you can apply for ESAO Membership. A membership entitles you for participation in ESAO meetings at reduced rates, to active participation in our working groups and – depending on your membership category – the receipt of our official Journal, the International Journal for Artificial Organs.

  • coordinate and develop research in Europe on organ support, replacement and regeneration based on artificial organs, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine
  • promote scientific projects in the field of artificial organs and regenerative medicine
  • support young scientists (young ESAO, yESAO)
  • affect ethical, regulatory guidelines and research policy of European Union on artificial organ support
  • promote exchanges and establish ties with associations having similar aims in and outside Europe
